The Eisenman Guitars highly custom, elegant, and thorough parametric setup- with a 30 day adjustment warranty.
Setups are offered concurrent with the repair/restoration bench queue. Cost is currently $100 + strings + tax.
What is a Parametric setup? It is an approach that uses historical and current data, establishes a relationship between variables and predicts outcomes.
In other words: We carefully consider the player's technique, desires, experiences, issues and apply careful measurements to a number of places on the guitar, bass, banjo or mandolin. This provides the player the best possible experience while making music.
On the other side of the setup, we have a musician who gets to express themselves, unencumbered by variables in their instrument. We log the customer's set of (approximately 20) parameters and use this data to dial the instrument back in after it is affected by seasonal changes or apply it to make a newly acquired instrument feel like an old friend. At our shop, your perfect setup is repeatable!
Most shops will take an instrument in and set it up "by feel." This approach ignores the unique individuality of musicians and playing styles.
Our 30 day adjustment warranty means after you've played your instrument at pickup, love it, but get home and you wish things felt a little different, we encourage you to bring it back for further refining. We'll then update your parameters.
Our setup includes:

Initial visit and evaluation.

Inspection of the instrument, and recommendations for any repairs not included in the setup.

Checking over all tuners, electronics, hardware, braces and fasteners and making adjustments as needed.

Setting the neck relief across the fingerboard, then cleaning and treating with conditioner as needed.

Carefully adjusting and sculpting the individual nut slots, then lubricating them.

Sculpting the point of contact of the string on the saddle as needed.

Adjusting string height and intonation at the saddle.

Adjusting pickup height.

Restringing and tuning

Returning visit for pickup and customers inspection.

30 Day adjustment warranty may not apply in situations where the instrument is not properly cared for, uses uncommon string gauges, multiple tunings or is played with atypical technique.
